Success Is a Collective Effort

As we look forward to the summer months, we can be proud of our accomplishments this past year.

Together, we've made significant strides in enhancing our HR communication efforts, and this monthly newsletter is one good example.  Our innovative HR employee recruitment campaign, "We're Here for Good!" continues to attract a new, diverse, talented pool of employees, helping our HR team fill open positions across campus. We have significantly reduced the amount of open vacancies across campus.

Furthermore, our commitment to continuous learning continues to shine through employees' participation in our recently launched LinkedIn Learning Tracks. This platform provides invaluable opportunities for professional development, and the support from our managers and supervisors has been instrumental in driving employee participation.

These achievements highlight the impressive results we can achieve when we work together at UMass Amherst. Your collaborative efforts across campus have been instrumental in driving our innovation and success. Each one of you has played a significant role in these accomplishments, and for that, we are truly grateful.

As my time as Interim Vice Chancellor comes to a close, I want to thank you all for the opportunity to serve in this role. I am excited about the arrival of our new Vice Chancellor, Sheri Neshiem, and am confident that, with your continued dedication, we will achieve even greater success in the future.

Professional Development

Two-Part Supervising Undergraduate Student Workers Training

If you are relatively new to supervising undergraduate student workers at UMass—or need a refresher—then join this training to learn supervision practices for training, giving feedback, and managing work and conduct expectations. This training is a practice lab for you to complete templates and role-play communication strategies that you can implement right away.

Bias-Free Recruitment Practices Class

Bias-free recruitment practices involve structured processes to give applicants a fair and equitable opportunity to demonstrate their skills, experience, and qualifications for a job position. This session will establish a foundational understanding of how bias affects decision-making, highlight the impact of bias, and provide structured steps to mitigate bias in our recruitment and hiring processes. Anyone involved in a search process would greatly benefit from this class!
